Hi, I’m Whitney! My yoga journey started about twelve years ago. I had a sedentary, stressful job, ate a LOT of mac-n-cheese, and exercised sporadically. I stumbled upon a yoga class that met on Sunday afternoons in my neighborhood, and decided to give it a try. My intention was to get in better physical shape, but what I discovered on the mat was a sense of calm I had been missing. I could get out of my own head for 90 minutes of bliss. I would walk out of class feeling recharged, even after a long day.

A few months of regular practice later, I noticed my shoulders no longer ached from tension. More importantly, I started to notice when my breath became quick and shallow, and I realized I could change that.

I became a teacher after 9 years of practice, with a few detours along the way. Sharing yoga with others is my passion. Whether I’m leading a heat building sequence in a flow class, or teaching the basics in a beginner class, my enthusiasm and commitment are the same.

My goal as a teacher is to guide my students in developing a practice that works for them. Every yoga practice is as unique as the practitioner. I love props. I love giving modifications for each pose. I consider core strength a byproduct of inner peace. I believe the perfect pose is the one that works best for your body.

I practice yoga because it makes me a better human. I teach because I love to share what I have learned.

I have a 200 hr certification from Sacred Glow Yoga Teacher Training. I’m about 3/4ths of the way to my 500 hr certification from The Asheville Yoga Center. Before deciding to teach, I practiced for 9 years. My personal philosophy is that yoga should be fun, it should make you think, and it should be challenging, but never painful.

Some fun facts about me.
